One of the most relevant astronomical phenomenon of this century is about to happen: a total solar eclipse will be visible by the end of this year and it can be seen, in a unique way, in the Northern part of the argentine Patagonia, in the province of Río Negro.

On December 14th, 2020, Canal 10 will carry out a two- hour live programme, from the four places that mark the main nodes of the road of the Eclipse 2020.You will be able to appreciate images of the Sun, the Moon and all the way through towards the Total Solar Eclipse.

A series of documentaries divided in three chapters will also be broadcast during the month of November where the road of the Eclipse will be traced -as a road movie- with the purpose of informing, motivating and placing the world in the settings where this long-awaited phenomenon will take place.

Radio Televisión Rio Negro S.E. , Canal10 will be in charge of the production and broadcasting of the live programmes and the documentaries.

The Road of the Eclipse

The programme will have a presenter and some journalists in the different locations where the telescopes, provided by the Argentine Astronomer Association, will be set:

El Cóndor
A natural place that holds the largest colony of burrowing parrots- also known as Cyanoliseus Patagonus- in the world.

Sierra Colorada
An energetic place with an enormous potential and planetary influence.

Valcheta
The gateway to the great Somomcura plateau, where the second largest natural reserve of the country is located.

Las Grutas
A coastline of warm water and the home of an enormous number of sea creatures, such as the southern right whale.

 

Content

  Constant monitoring of the eclipse from the four locations.

  Interviews with scientific astronomers about different topics; such as the origins of astronomy, astronomy as a modern science, how an astronomer works and astronomy in Argentina.

  An interview with a specialist in meteorological analysis who will explain the changes suffered by the environment, the temperature, etc, taking into account the information from last year´s eclipse Documentary Series.

  Interviews with biologists and marine biologists who will explain the changes in the environment and the behaviour of animals.

  Records and notes in every single locations of the experience and emotions of the tourists who will be witnessing this phenomenon.

The Road of the Eclipse

Documentary Series

A series of three documentaries that will be broadcast before the eclipse, preparing the audience for the great event to come.

The series will be the gateway to December 14th, 2020. It has a road movie format and is focused on a naturalist style. The images of deserts, beaches, stunning skies and the native flora and fauna will depict the testimonies of different people living there and their communities.

 

Content

  A tour around the Patagonian landscapes highlighting their beauty and vastness.

  Interviews with the most important tourist benchmarks of each place.

  Interviews with some scientists explaining various topics, such as the characteristics of the Sun, the different phases of a solar eclipse, what to pay attention to in a solar eclipse, the influence of the eclipses on Nature, observation in a safe way, etc.

  An Interview with the Mapuche Lonco stating his view of the world and of this phenomenon.

  An interview with a biologist explaining what is expected to happen with the fauna during the course of the eclipse.
